History

The Preparatory Faculty was created pursuant to the Order of the Ministry of Agriculture of the USSR dated January 7, 1966, No. 4, “On the Establishment of the Preparatory Faculty for Citizens of Developing Countries at the Kuban Agricultural Institute.” The institution could boast an efficient communication and engagement system, as well as a comprehensive educational and pedagogical framework. The Preparatory Faculty of the Kuban Agricultural Institute was considered one of the best in the USSR—and rightfully so.

The list of former faculty deans includes G.N. Nemets (1966–1970), M.I. Strelchenko (1970–1972), V.B. Chernyshov (1972–1974), N.M. Sobol (1974–1995), and Professor M.I. Lukomets (1995–2009).

After a lengthy hiatus, the Preparatory Department for Foreign Citizens resumed its work, following the Rector’s Order No. 75, dated May 14, 2013, in accordance with the “Concept of the International Work Development at the Kuban SAU until 2017.” As of today, the pre-university training programs are attended by citizens of 53 countries of both near and far abroad.

In 2026, the Preparatory Department celebrates its 60th anniversary!
